upgrading
I am a registered user of iSilo™ 4.0 or later.
Is iSilo™ 4.x a free upgrade for me, where x
stands for the minor point version?
Normal registered users of iSilo™ 4.0 or later are
eligible for free minor point upgrades unless otherwise stated
in your license agreement. Minor point upgrades include any
version of iSilo™ where the version starts with
"4.". Note that the free upgrade is only valid for the platform
of iSilo™ that you purchased. So if you purchased a
license for iSilo™ for Palm OS®, with that license
you are eligible for the free minor point upgrades
to iSilo™ for Palm OS®, but not for the minor
point upgrades to iSilo™ for Pocket PC.
I am a registered user of iSilo™ 3.x or
iSilo™ 4.x.
How can I obtain an upgrade to iSilo™ 5.x?
You can purchase an upgrade from the
iSilo.com
online store.
Those with non-upgradeable licenses, rebranded, bundled, or customized
versions of iSilo™ do not qualify for the upgrade
offer.
I am a registered user of iSilo™ 3.0 or later.
Is iSilo™ 3.x a free upgrade for me, where x
stands for the minor point version?
Normal registered users of iSilo™ 3.0 or later are
eligible for free minor point upgrades unless otherwise stated
in your license agreement. Minor point upgrades include any
version of iSilo™ where the version starts with
How do I perform a minor point upgrade, for example,
from iSilo™ 3.3 to iSilo™ 3.35
or from iSilo™ 4.0 to iSilo™ 4.05?

If I am a registered user of iSilo™ for Palm OS®,
am I also licensed for iSilo™ for Pocket PC

additional resources to develop, and thus requires individual
licensing fees.

I delete iSilo™ 2.x without also deleting my

Is there a free version of iSilo™?
iSilo™ 3.15 introduced a new usage mode
called free mode. You can use iSilo™
in free mode without needing to register or pay a license
fee. However, iSilo™ in free mode does have
limitations (see the next question).
Please note that iSilo™ in registered mode
has many features that you will come to find essential
compared with free mode and at a very small price.
For more information about iSilo™'s different usage modes,
please see trial, registered, and free mode.
What are the feature limitations of iSilo™ in
free mode?
In free mode, iSilo™ has the following feature limitations:
- Hyperlinks, which make
it much easier to navigate through a document, are non-functional.
- Images, which add visual richness
to documents, especially photo-quality color pictures, do not display,
and in their place are gray rectangular boxes that show where the
images would be.
- Color is not available. All parts of a document,
including text, backgrounds, and borders display in black and white.
- Tables, which allow for two dimensional layout of content
such as tabular data, display in single-column mode.
- Mixed font sizes, which are normally used to differentiate
parts of a document such as headings and content, are not available.
All text displays in the same font size.
- Copying text to the clipboard, which can be used
to copy text from a document to other applications, is not available.
- Bookmarks are not
available. You can neither use existing bookmarks nor add new
bookmarks to make jumping to various
locations with documents easier.
Even with the above limitations, iSilo™ in free mode
is still highly functional and provides more features than some other
document readers that require a fee. However, for the small
price that a license costs, you can enjoy fully all the features
of iSilo™ in registered mode.
How can I convert the content of a Microsoft Word document?
From within Microsoft Word, first save the document in HTML format
(Word 98 and earlier) or to Web Page format (Word 2000/XP). You can then
use iSiloX to convert the HTML
document to iSilo™ format.
Can I convert the content of an Adobe PDF file?
Neither iSiloX nor iSiloXC can convert the content of an Adobe PDF
file directly. You need to get the content into HTML format first.
