How to transfer files to iSilo™ for iPhone OS on Windows Vista or Windows 7
- If we go back to our device and exit out of the File Server View back
to the document list view, we can see the two files we just copied over
from our computer.
notes
- iSilo™'s file server must be active on your device
in order for your computer to be able to connect to it to transfer
files. With the initial default settings, the file server is only
active while in the File Server View. Options are available on that
screen for making the server active at other times while you are
in iSilo™ by selecting a different setting for the
When option.
- If you have Bonjour installed on your computer and the Bonjour
address works for accessing your device, then you do not need
to worry about the IP address of your device changing, as the
Bonjour system handles that scenario transparently. Bonjour
is automatically installed if you have either iTunes or Safari
installed. There is also a standalone installer for Bonjour
available from Apple that installs only the Bonjour networking
component. You can use that installer if you want to utilize
Bonjour on a computer without having to install either iTunes or Safari.
- As also mentioned in the above steps, you do not need to go
through the steps for mapping a network drive each time you want
to transfer files as long as the IP address of your device has not changed.
You can just go directly to the server by accessing it using
its mapped drive in the Computer window.
- There are security implications with having iSilo™'s
file server active on your device, so you may want to read
the article on
how to set iSilo™ for iPhone OS file server security
options.
