trial, registered, and free mode

At any one time, iSilo™ operates in one of the following modes:

trial mode
registered mode
free mode

trial mode

When you install iSilo™ for the first time, iSilo™ starts in trial mode. Trial mode provides a 30-day period during which you can use iSilo™ in its full capacity. All of iSilo™'s features in trial mode are fully functional. This allows you to know exactly what you are getting and allows you to make an informed decision as to whether or not iSilo™ meets your needs and likes.

During trial mode, you receive reminders every now and then telling you how many days you have left in the trial period.

If you would like to continue using iSilo™ beyond the 30-day trial period with all features fully functional, you must purchase a license. After purchasing a license, you receive a license registration code that allows you to convert iSilo™ to registered mode. For information on purchasing a license, please visit the product's website at <http://www.iSilo.com>. Purchasing a license supports iSilo™'s continued development.

If you do not register iSilo™ by the end of the 30-day trial period, iSilo™ converts to free mode, which allows you to continue using iSilo™ without needing to purchase a license but with limited features. At any time while you are using iSilo™ in free mode, you can still purchase a license to convert it to registered mode.

At any time during the trial period, you can also switch in and out of free mode to see the difference between the limitations of free mode and full functionality. To switch in or out of free mode, go to the document list view and in the Tools menu, tap Options. On the Mode tab of the Options dialog, you can select whether you want to be in free mode or not.

registered mode

If you would like to continue using iSilo™ beyond the 30-day trial period with all features fully functional, you must purchase a license. After purchasing a license, you receive a license registration code that allows you to convert iSilo™ to registered mode. For information on purchasing a license, please visit the product's website at <http://www.iSilo.com>. Purchasing a license supports iSilo™'s continued development.

In registered mode, all of iSilo™'s features are fully functional and you do not get the trial reminder messages that you get in trial mode.

After purchasing a license for iSilo™, you receive a license registration code, which you can use to convert iSilo™ to registered mode using these steps:

Start iSilo™.
Go to the Tools menu and tap About iSilo.
Tap the UNREGISTERED button in the About dialog.
Enter your license registration code.
Tap OK.

After successfully entering your registration code, the label of the UNREGISTERED button in the About dialog changes to display your serial number.

free mode

If you do not register iSilo™ by the end of the 30-day trial period, iSilo™ converts to free mode, which allows you to continue using iSilo™ without needing to purchase a license but with limited features. At any time while you are using iSilo™ in free mode, you can still purchase a license to convert it to registered mode.

In free mode, iSilo™ has the following feature limitations:

Hyperlinks, which make it much easier to navigate through a document, are non-functional.
Images, which add visual richness to documents, especially photo-quality color pictures, do not display, and in their place are gray rectangular boxes that show where the images would be.
Color is not available. All parts of a document, including text, backgrounds, and borders display in black and white.
Tables, which allow for two dimensional layout of content such as tabular data, display in single-column mode.
Mixed font sizes, which are normally used to differentiate parts of a document such as headings and content, are not available. All text displays in the same font size.
Copying text to the clipboard, which can be used to copy text from a document to other applications, is not available.
Bookmarks are not available. You can neither use existing bookmarks nor add new bookmarks to make jumping to various locations within documents easier.
Annotations are not available.

Even with the above limitations, iSilo™ in free mode is still highly functional and provides more features than some other document readers that require a fee. However, for the small price that a license costs, you can enjoy fully all the features of iSilo™ in registered mode.
